SING YER HEART OUT FOR THE LADS – REVIEW QUOTES:

The Times – “…always highly watchable with Tanya Franks’s hard-as-nails Gina…”

The Stage – “It’s realism, conveyed brilliantly by the rest of the cast, but notably by Tanya Franks as the young licensee…”

Sunday Telegraph – “There are outstanding performances, too – from Tanya Franks as the tough but decent landlady…”

The Telegraph – “…equally fine work from Tanya Franks as the spunky pub landlady”.

PULLING – British Comedy Awards winner, South Bank Show Awards winner, and BAFTA nominated comedy.

The Guardian Guide – …a stand-out Tanya Franks… The instant the character of sexually rapacious Karen has stormed into the picture…she’s stolen the scene, and maybe the show, too. …and some show stealing moments from Karen (Tanya Franks) lift this above the basic set-up.

The Observer Woman – Pulling is important…because it gives us Karen. She’s played breathtakingly well by Tanya Franks, a woman formerly best known in The Bill, and she is wonderful.
Total TV Guide – It owes a lot to some truly exceptional performances – most notably Tanya Franks who plays Karen, a character constantly on the cusp of self-destruction.

Mail on Sunday – Tanya Franks is a riot as alcoholic Karen…

Sunday Times – Most of the laughs now come from Karen’s (Tanya Franks) struggles to combine a teaching career with a demanding boozing regime…

Lowculture.co.uk – …and the ‘real’ star of the show, Karen, played by Tanya Franks (Rainie in EastEnders). Karen is our kind of character: bold, brash, lewd, irresponsible, cutting and very funny.

The Radio Times – … with Tanya Franks as drunk Karen the cherry on the pina colada. Not since Patsy in Ab Fab has binge drinking been this funny.

The Metro – Actors playing drunk on TV are usually rubbish, so Tanya Franks is either a total lush or the Dame Judi of boozers.

Award winning British actress Tanya Franks rose to fame in one of the UK’s most popular shows ‘Family Affairs’. Controversial story lines like playing a bi-sexual mother made her a viewers favourite. No stranger to crazy roles Tanya is probably most famous for her role as the drunken primary school teacher ‘Karen’ in the BBC’s award winning comedy series ‘Pulling’. Not surprisingly this hilarious show won the British Comedy Award and The South Bank Show Comedy Award. Tanya was also nominated for a British Comedy Award and the show received a Bafta nomination for Best Sitcom. Showing her dramatic side Tanya played ‘DCI Morell’ in the high rating national police drama ‘The Bill’. Other national roles include ‘Ashes To Ashes’, ‘Skins’, ‘The Cup’, ‘Eastenders’, ‘Holby City’ and ‘Doctors’.

Tanya’s long stage career has led her to grace the boards of Britain’s most prestigious theatres like the ‘Royal National Theatre’ and ‘Royal Exchange Manchester’. Including wonderful productions like: ‘Sing Yer Heart Out For The Lads’ (National Theatre), ‘Pretend You Have Big Buildings’ (Manchester), Steven Berkoff’s 25th Anniversary production of ‘East’ (Vaudeville Theatre, West End) plus many regional productions.

Tanya is also the founder of Stock-pot Productions writing and producing film – her shorts include ‘One Day’ (Kodak Best Short Film Finalist), ‘Missing’, and ‘The Briefcase That Brings Out The Baby In You’. These have screened at national and international film festivals and she is in development with her first feature.

Tanys just finished a run at the National Theatre in the comedy ‘Really Old, Like Forty Five’ playing ‘Amanda’, a Government medical researcher. This sold out production received amazing reviews: “Somehow you keep laughing even as you find yourself engulfed in depression about the horrors of old age and the perniciousness of government” said the Independent.

TV fans won’t be disappointed as this talented and versatile actress is about to hit our screens again playing ‘Dolly’ in the ever popular CBBC series ‘Hotel Trubble’ and by popular demand is back on screen in the UK’s number 1 Soap ‘Eastenders’ playing ‘Rainie’..
