Johnny Kenton is an award winning director and writer raised in the Highlands and Hackney.

He is the very first filmmaker to receive a Pia Pressure Award and will be part of the team that leads the selection and development panels for the next round of award winners.

Johnny started out his career as a musician which led to him making experimental films and music videos for many bands on labels including XL Recordings, Columbia and Universal.

He also cut his teeth directing theatre and interactive and immersive experiences, making works for The Underbelly, The Vaults and National Theatre Studio, as well as devising space specific and multimedia work s u c h a s t h e a w a r d w i n n i n g m u l t i ­ m e d i a p i e c e D o o r s l a m .

In 2013 Johnny wrote and directed HEREAFTER acult YA sci­fi pilot released through Channelflip starring Lydia Wilson (ABOUT TIME / STAR TREK BEYOND), Taron Egerton (KINGSMEN ­ THE SECRET
S E R V I C E )  a n d A n t h o n y H e a d ( B U F F Y )  w h i c h w a s a w a r d e d B e s t D r a m a a t t h e N e w Y o r k T e l e v i s i o n Festival.

Johnny is currently a David Lean Scholar at the National Film and Television School and his films have been played at festivals worldwide including Raindance, New York, Raindance, Berlin, Clermand Ferraud, Venice and LSFF. He is already being hotly tipped as one to watch for the future following his acclaimed multi media productions, award winning shorts and eye popping ad campaigns for the likes of Samsung.

Debs Paterson is a writer and Director who comes in a white European package and holds a British passport, but was made in Taiwan, and is eligible for Rwandan citizenship. Her secondary education was state school in North Yorkshire, then A levels in South India, followed by a literature masters at Trinity Hall, Cambridge University.

Debs is a director and writer whose first feature AFRICA UNITEDwas produced by Pathé and BBC Films, and premiered to a standing ovation in Toronto, and then as a red carpet gala at the London Film Festival before releasing internationally.

She has followed Africa United with her slew of critically shorts and her star continued to rise when was nominated for Best Debut Director at the British Independent Film Awards and named a BAFTA ‘Brit To Watch’.

Debs is also an inaugural recipient of a Pia Pressure award for her next feature project THIN AIR, a female survivor story based on true events that follows a female war reporter’s journey when caught on the wrong side of enemy lines.

While developing this project for Pia Pressure Debs continues to mentor up and coming film makers for Raindance and FIlm London. Debs is represented in London by Mady Niel at 42 and in LA by Rosalie Swedlin at Anonymous Content. She is a member of BAFTA and Directors UK.
