Silvena Rowe Press Kit

Silvena Rowe is Britain’s top female chef. Not only did she successfully opened The May Fair Hotel’s critically acclaimed restaurant Quince, she is the author of 6 best selling cookery books and has graced our screens in numerous prime time television cooking shows.

The phenomenon Silvena Rowe, chef, TV personality and author is a blend of many different ingredients. Born in Bulgaria on the Turkish border, her father’s romantic, bohemian approach to life and cooking was a seed that planted itself firmly in her soul, and a recent journey back to her Eastern Mediterranean roots to explore the gastronomy of the Ottoman empire was the inspiration for her best-selling book “Purple Citrus and Sweet Perfume”.

Silvena’s career has seen her cook for London’s most discerning diners, from royalty to rock star and her inspirational cooking style also led to a role as food consultant on David Cronenberg’s 2007 film Eastern Promises. Her infectious personality regularly lights up our TV screens and she is a regular on BBC’s Saturday Kitchen. Silvena’s stunning looks, outspoken opinions and outstanding culinary skills have also been shared with the nation on ITV’s This Morning, UKTV Food’s Good Food Live and My Kitchen.

The authority on modern Eastern Mediterranean cooking, Silvena’s approach is bold, fragrant, sensual and above all, delicious. Silvena was recently seen as celebrity chef and judge on ABC’s Time Machine Chefs and her new show Country Show Cook Off will be aired on April 1st for 5 days at 6:30pm on BBC 2.

REVIEWS

Judge Silvena Rowe’s critiques are brutal, but make for some good TV. Get her her own show, stat!”

Casey Gillis – The Burg

“On television, Mrs. Rowe has a rock ’n’ roll edge, with her spiky punk hairstyles and frank earthiness.”

Olivia Snaije – The New York Times

“She’s tall and striking, a shock of short, platinum hair sitting atop a wide, feline face.”

Daily Mail

“While the dishes at this bustling café-style establishment in the May Fair Hotel certainly look familiar, they have a flare that comes from Ms. Rowe’s individual approach.”

Bruce Palling – Wall Street Journal

“Chef and author Silvena’s approach to cooking has always been full of fun, sharing and enjoyment.”

Red Magazine UK

“Silvena needs a show of her own. She’s a big, imposing bottle blond from Bulgaria, with a tough manner. This woman is magnificent.”
